Subscan 2025 Q3–Q4 Funding Proposal: Operation and Maintenance Fee for Astar, Shiden and Shibuya

Abstract

Subscan Explorer remains a critical pillar of infrastructure for the Astar, Shiden, and Shibuya networks. We provide accurate on-chain data indexing, timely technical responses to runtime updates, continuous network monitoring, and free community APIs that power the ecosystem's dashboards, bots, and analytics.

Over the past year, our team successfully completed multiple infrastructure and indexing optimizations. These upgrades have drastically improved our overall efficiency and reduced operating costs, all while maintaining our high standards of reliability and performance. As a direct result of these optimizations, we are thrilled to introduce an updated, simplified, and significantly more cost-effective pricing structure for 2026.

We are passing these savings directly back to the community. Base fees have been substantially reduced, are projected to remain stable long-term, and now include highly favorable, stackable discounts for annual prepayments.

2025 Retrospective: Delivering on Optimization Promises

In our 2025 proposal, we committed to ongoing infrastructure optimizations and explicitly stated that our goal was to decrease fees in 2026. We are proud to announce that we have delivered on this promise.

By overhauling our resource allocation, streamlining our data indexing architecture, and improving our DevOps automation, we have successfully lowered our cloud and operational overhead. The transition from our previous data-usage billing model to this new optimized tier system provides a fairer, highly predictable, and substantially cheaper baseline for the Astar ecosystem moving forward.

Updated Pricing & Cost Structure for 2026

We have simplified our pricing into a flat base rate per network, supplemented by generous "Annual Payment Network Discounts" that stack with our updated plans.

2. Annual Payment Network Discounts (Stackable)

To reward long-term commitment and ease the treasury burden, we are introducing specific network discounts for annual prepayments. Additionally, amid constantly rising infrastructure costs, annual prepayments help Subscan lock in prepaid pricing with upstream suppliers, mitigating price volatility and ensuring long-term service stability. Therefore, we offer the following discounts:

3. Historical Cost Comparison & Reduction Analysis

By successfully completing our infrastructure optimizations, we have reversed the previous trend of rising costs associated with network growth.

• 2026: $3,554 / month (effective monthly cost after annual payment discounts)

2026 Q1 Maintenance Fee

Total Requested Amount

We are currently participating in Astar and Shiden staking, which has generated a total reward of 651,913.988 ASTR and 4,822 SDN, during the period 2025-11-19 to 2026-03-31. Based on the prices at the time of calculation these rewards correspond to USD 5,250. This amount will be deducted from the total service fee as a staking return contribution.

We kindly request funding support from the Astar Treasury to cover the total amount due of USD 13,494. After deducting the staking rewards, the final payable amount is USD 8,244. The equivalent amount in ASTR will be calculated based on the EMA7 price at the time of conversion.
